Our facility also serves as a referral center for specialty care.

The main hospital campus located in Ann Arbor operates 98 acute care beds and 40 nursing home (extended care) beds.  Nearly 279,000 outpatient visits were made at our facilities in fiscal year 2006; there were 4,800 inpatient episodes of care provided in the hospital and extended care center.

Description: Since 1924, the Battle Creek, Michigan VA Medical Center has been serving area veterans. Services are available to more than 217,000 veterans living in a 20-county area of western Michigan.

The Battle Creek VA Medical Center consists of 104 medical and psychiatric beds, 32 residential rehabilitation beds, and 103 nursing home care unit beds.  In addition, specialized services offered include a Palliative Care Unit, a Substance Abuse Clinic, a Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Program and a Domicilliary.

Description: Since 1939, this VA facility has been has been serving area veterans.  In 1996, the medical center was  moved from Allen Park, Michigan to the current location in Detroit.  The John D. Dingell VAMC located in Detroit, Michigan is one of the newest VA facilities in the country. Services are available to more than 330,994 veterans living in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, and St. Clair  counties.  This population represents approximately 44 percent of the veteran population in the lower peninsula of Michigan.

Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center

Description: The Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center is located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The organization provides primary care at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center as well as at six outpatient clinics. Over 33,000 veterans in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and northeastern Wisconsin rely upon the Iron Mountain VA Medical Center and Clinics for their health care.

Description: The Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center (VAMC) consists of a single VHA facility with an independent Skilled Care and Rehabilitation (SCR) Center located in Saginaw, Michigan.  The VAMC provides primary and secondary medical services, ambulatory surgical services, and outpatient psychiatric services.  Approximately 240,000 outpatient visits were provided at the Saginaw VA Medical Center in the last year to veterans who live in the Central and Northern 35 counties of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. The VAMC also has Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) in Gaylord, Alpena, Oscoda and Traverse City in Northern Michigan.
